 【Funai Electric Co., Ltd. to introduce 3D design environment in entire company】

With utilizing 3D data, Funai has succeeded in reducing 30% of current lead-time from design to production preparation time.

In 2005, the company decided to implement 3D design and development environment by management decision. This is a three-year plan to be completed by 2007.

The company has so far been using NX in 70% of its machine design and steel case design work, and is planning to achieve shorter production preparation time and higher quality by conducting analysis in design stage.

 In today’s manufacturing industry in Japan , 3D CAD is commonplace. And here in ASEAN, more and more companies are adopting 3D CAD. However, there is one question here. Does 3D CAD really meet your expectations?

Most people agree that the shift from 2D to 3D enabled them drastically reduce the development time and cost and enhanced design efficiency and product quality.

On the other hand, they also agree that there is still some area in which 3D data remained unutilized; end up preparing 2D drawing for the downstream process, or difficult to modify 3D data created by other designers.  

In brief, few companies have actuary shifted from 2D to 3D completely.
